Delta Faucet Company has a fantastic opportunity within our Jackson, TN plant for a Product Engineer!


This individual is a key in the new product development process that will lead the focus on in-house manufacturability, approve all manufactured PPAP components through the use of the PPAP system, manage the project implementation in plants and provide post-launch product support. They also maintain the integrity of existing products through design changes, review of non-conforming products and review of impact of tooling and process changes.


Nature & Scope:

This position is a highly visible job that requires good project management and problem-solviing skills. The candidate must be flexible and be able to multi-task due to the complexity and volume of work involved. They must be innovative and knowledgeable of the manufacturing methods, continuous improvement, and lean production systems. They must understand the design and code requirements of products and processes to allow them to explain and comprehend those needs to their customers, internal and external, as well as suppliers.  This position reports directly to the Product Engineering Manager at the plant and has no direct reports themselves.


Dimensions:
This position would at any time be managing multiple projects as well as dealing with various manufacturing issues that require their attention. This person would work closely with a Tooling/Process Engineer to develop the NPD manufacturing processes as well as improvements to existing products and processes.  Experience with Industry 4.0 and connected systems preferred.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage and oversee New Product Development projects by suggesting changes in product and processes to improve processing, safety, quality and reduce cost for internally produced parts and assemblies.
  • Disposition of new and transferred processes, components and assemblies through pilot runs, first article or PPAP approval, material review board and deviations.
  • Understand that material and financial loss may result from poorly conceived or executed designs or recommendations and that timelines in the completion of assigned tasks are of utmost importance.
  • Support all manufacturing processes for potential product and/or process changes to facilitate production requirements and LEAN manufacturing techniques.
  • Review and disposition of discrepant components at daily material review meeting
  • Process change and deviation requests.



Education and Experience/Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering and 2+ years experience as an Engineer in a manufacturing environment and is considered the resident expert in their field of work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A successful candidate should posses confidence in their abilities in structured problem solving, product and process knowledge, project management, interpersonal skills and their ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
