Purpose:
The Production Manager owns the daily operations of production departments and uses continuous improvement tools to improve performance and achieve targets. This person handles the Shop Floor Management structure of each department and leads using Masco’s Talent Principles and Enterprise Leadership Profile.
The position must have the ability to make critical decisions in an ever-changing manufacturing environment while having a bias for action. This role’s focus is on the long-term business strategy in order to improve the performance of production operations. It is meaningful to stay current with significant changes to business strategy and production levels. The position reports to the Plant Manager and has responsibility for Group Leaders, Team Leaders and hourly employees. A close working relationship with hourly employees will develop trust and drive improvements
Responsibilities:
Enforce and promote things we value.
Apply concepts of Masco Operating System and Lean Manufacturing principles to production operations
Drive improvements using problem-solving methodologies and facilitate continuous improvement events
Lead departmental Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics and audit to sustain standards
Coach individuals and teams to develop people skills and improve performance
Develop and balance the annual budget for production operations.
Handle labor efficiency, material variance, scrap, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
Champion 5S, address unsafe behaviors and conditions, and carry out OSHA regulations and company safety and health rules.
Perform time and attendance activities
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline is helpful.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Operations and Material Flow
Problem-solving skills and tools such as PDCA, DMAIC and Kaizen
Minimum of five years of experience as a leader in a production environment.
